Stake Colombia introduces VAT compensation for players

Online casino platform Stake has promised to compensate its Colombian players with a new Cashback IVA promotion, which will credit a bonus to users to cover the 19% VAT imposed by the Colombian government.
The Stake bonus is equal to the tax deducted from their original payment. The bonus will appear as a cash bonus and be added to the players’ accounts.
The VAT was introduced through Decree 175 on February 14. It introduced temporary tax measures from February 22, 2025, until the end of the year.
Players on all licensed operators that provide online betting and gambling games are subject to the 19% VAT charge on any payment, including cash, money transfers, and crypto assets.
Diana Otálora, Stake General Country Manager in LatAm, said, “At Stake Colombia, our users are our top priority, and that’s why we have to adapt to the government’s measure regarding the 19% tax and comply with the required deadlines. Therefore, we are adopting internal measures so that our customers can continue playing without being affected by this situation.”
Stake began operations in the Colombian-regulated market after it acquired the Flutter-owned sportsbook Betfair Colombia in November 2023. The gaming license it acquired via that deal is up for renewal in June 2025.
In recent news, Stake has also announced its partnership with Chilean soccer team Club Deportivo Ñublense for the 2025 season, strengthening its LatAm presence.
