Stake partners with Club Deportivo Ñublense amid Everton FC sponsorship controversy

Online gambling platform Stake has announced a sponsorship deal with Chilean Primera Division soccer side Club Deportivo Ñublense for the 2025 season.
The partnership between Stake and Ñublense will see the gambling company’s logo feature on the front of Club Deportivo Ñublense’s shirt during matches as the club competes in the Copa Libertadores for just the second time in its 109-year history.
Head of Sponsorship at Stake, Nikkita Thomas, said, “Ñublense are a fantastic club, with a rich history and great fan base. We saw a real underdog story last season as they made it to the final of Copa Chile, and their involvement in the Copa Libertadores is something we are very excited about.”
Stake has expanded its LatAm presence in 2025, signing a partnership with Kambi Group to bring its sportsbook technology to Stake’s platform in Brazil. Stake launched in Brazil following the launch of the legal market on 1 January.
However, Stake’s sponsorship of the Chilean soccer club comes as it faces controversy with another of its soccer sponsorships: Everton FC, the English Premier League team. Stake is also the shirt sponsor for this team.
The UK Gambling Commission announced Stake would no longer be licensed from 11 March following a regulatory investigation of its advertising practices following a promo featuring pornography actress Bonnie Blue.
In a statement, the UK Gambling Commission also promised to write to Everton FC and explain the risks of promoting unlicensed gambling platforms.
