The Backstory

Why this tie-up in Mexico is a pivotal step

RubyPlay’s move to place its slots with Codere Online in Mexico lands at a moment when operators are racing to deepen content libraries and localize fast for Latin American audiences. Codere has been building momentum in Mexico across product verticals, including its recent push into poker. The operator launched an iOS poker app in partnership with Playtech, tapping its player-vs.-player network to boost liquidity and engagement. That rollout in Mexico underscores Codere’s bid to broaden its portfolio and cross-sell across casino, poker and bingo. The company said poker use is climbing, a signal that its customer base is primed for more games and formats. That context helps explain why a fresh tranche of RubyPlay titles could matter for retention and new-player conversion in a competitive market. Codere’s scale across Spanish-speaking markets gives RubyPlay a distribution lift in a country where brand familiarity and payments trust are differentiators. The addition of RubyPlay’s core catalog alongside content from its independent studio Koala Games positions Codere to keep pace with rivals rolling out rapid-fire slot refreshes. The timing also aligns with a broader reshuffle of platform partnerships as suppliers chase market share with localized math models, themes and promotional tools tailored for Mexican play styles.

Inside RubyPlay’s wider expansion arc

The Mexico deal is not a one-off. RubyPlay has been stacking distribution in the United States and Latin America through a string of agreements designed to seed presence, secure data on player preferences and iterate content in market. The company signed a broad content partnership with SkillOnNet that launched its portfolio across brands in the US, Mexico and Spain, with additional regions tied to regulatory approvals. That move expanded reach to platforms like PlayOJO, SpinGenie and PlayUzu and signaled RubyPlay’s intent to scale beyond single-operator reliance. Details on the rollout are in RubyPlay’s SkillOnNet partnership spanning the US, LatAm and Europe.

In the US, RubyPlay has been deliberate about beachhead states and operator partners. It entered Delaware through Rush Street Interactive’s BetRivers, bringing more than 20 titles and testing localized themes aimed at Northeast audiences. Earlier, it planted a flag in New Jersey and then grew that footprint with a tie-in at Ocean Casino Resort’s online platform, betOcean.com, which included the US debut of Egyptian Sun SE and a slate of follow-on releases. These steps map a typical supplier playbook: establish in one jurisdiction, leverage performance data with existing partners, then expand regionally. For specifics, see RubyPlay’s Delaware launch with Rush Street Interactive and the Ocean Casino partnership in New Jersey.

Laying groundwork across Latin America

Beyond Mexico, RubyPlay is moving to entrench in Brazil, the region’s largest potential online gaming market. The company partnered with Esportes da Sorte, one of Brazil’s more visible operators, to roll out a set of RubyPlay titles plus Koala Games content like Voltage Blitz Rapid and Voltage Blitz Vortex. The deal also extends to sister brands Lottu and OnaBet through owner Esportes Gaming Brasil Group, pointing to a multi-brand distribution strategy designed to capture share as regulation advances and marketing ramps. More on that push is in RubyPlay’s tie-up with Esportes da Sorte in Brazil.

Brazil and Mexico differ in regulatory cadence and product preferences, but both reward localized content and strong operator alliances. In Mexico, Codere provides reach and a base of engaged casino and poker players. In Brazil, Esportes da Sorte brings regional familiarity and promotional muscle. For RubyPlay, linking with both operators creates a corridor to test math volatility, themes and feature sets that resonate with Spanish and Portuguese speakers, then recycle the winners across adjacent markets and partner networks.

Content breadth as competitive currency

RubyPlay’s catalog strategy underpins these deals. The company’s portfolio counts more than 130 games, and it continues to refresh with branded families like Immortal Ways and Diamond Explosion while layering in special editions for regional tastes. Partnering operators can stage headline launches, as seen with the US-first release of Egyptian Sun SE at betOcean, or roll out seasonal and event-driven titles such as Immortal Ways Buffalo or Diamond Explosion Patriots that aim to spark short-term engagement spikes. SkillOnNet’s integration further amplifies this by inserting RubyPlay into lobbies alongside thousands of third-party titles, which pressures suppliers to deliver consistent performers rather than one-off hits. That breadth and cadence are strategic in Latin America, where bonus cycles are tight, attention spans are short and players expect frequent novelty without sacrificing game stability.

The inclusion of Koala Games content within RubyPlay’s ecosystem adds variety without diluting brand clarity. Operators like Codere can toggle between RubyPlay’s core mechanics and Koala’s complementary styles to widen appeal across casual slots users and more volatility-seeking players. For suppliers, that modularity lowers risk on new math models and themes, and it gives partners more levers to manage churn between flagship releases.

What to watch from here

Three threads will determine how much lift RubyPlay and Codere extract from the Mexico rollout. First, execution speed. RubyPlay has been sequencing launches in waves, starting with the US and Latin America, then Spain as approvals land under the SkillOnNet deal. If the Mexico integration accelerates and player response mirrors early US wins, the company can syndicate data-driven tweaks across Spanish-language lobbies quickly. Track the next SkillOnNet territories coming online via the multi-region SkillOnNet agreement.

Second, cross-vertical conversion at Codere. The operator’s poker app growth in Mexico offers a funnel into slots if Codere can merchandise RubyPlay titles effectively and tie promotions across poker, bingo and casino. The operator highlighted rising poker engagement after launching with Playtech’s network, suggesting a pool of users that may respond to curated slot drops and tournaments. See Codere’s Mexico poker rollout details for the demand backdrop.

Third, macro and regulatory conditions. Brazil’s regulated rollout and Mexico’s competitive intensity will shape marketing spend, bonus discipline and content turnover. RubyPlay’s partnerships with Esportes da Sorte and Rush Street show a hedged approach across markets and operators, but supplier growth still depends on operators’ ability to monetize through cycles. Codere has flagged currency headwinds in Mexico before, which can pressure reported results and budgets for content promotion even when underlying engagement is steady. That puts a premium on titles that deliver strong time-on-device with efficient promotional support.

The through line: RubyPlay is building distribution density across Latin America while reinforcing its US footholds, betting that localized series, frequent updates and multi-operator reach will convert into durable lobby share. Codere’s Mexico scale and product mix make it a logical partner for that bet. The next quarters will show whether that combination lifts share of wallet in Mexico and seeds additional launches across the region.
