Playtech sells Happybet to NetX Betting

Playtech has announced that it has finalized a deal to end its ownership of Austrian online and retail betting company Happybet.
Playtech initially closed the company in the second half of last year and in March 2025 revealed that it had started the process of selling the remaining elements of Happybet, which are based in Germany.
It has now confirmed that a deal has been signed with Dusseldorf-based betting company NetX Betting, which is a subsidiary of the betting group pfederwetten.de AG.
A statement from Playtech confirmed that pferdewetten.de will be able to connect with franchise partners of Germany-based Happybet retail venues and will also take ownership of the hardware associated with Happybet.
In a statement, Playtech said, “There will now be a transition period to allow pferdewetten.de to negotiate with the relevant franchise partners and for the relevant regulatory approvals to be sought from the competent authorities in Germany. It is intended that any remaining Happybet assets not transferred to, or assumed by, pferdewetten.de will cease operations and, where relevant, will be wound up.”
The sale aligns with Playtech’s aim of focusing more on business-to-business operations.
Last month, it sold Italian betting operator Snaitech to global gambling group Flutter Entertainment for a reported figure of €2.3 billion (US$2.62 billion)1 EUR = 1.1378 USD
