The Brazilian sports betting industry has generated BRL3.79 billion in tax income since its launch in January 2025.

Brazil’s federal revenue service, the Receita Federal do Brasil, released an overview of taxes collected across several industries for the first six months of 2025 and June specifically. In June 2025, Brazilian gambling generated BRL764 million.

The Brazilian sports betting market has grown significantly since regulated online sports betting launched at the start of the year.

Numbers from BetBlocker confirm this, registering over 20,000 active users in Brazil. That makes Brazil the company’s fastest-growing jurisdiction.

Gambling tax contributions helped Brazil reach a record tax total for the first half of the year. That tax haul could increase even more in the second half of 2025, after the Brazilian government increased its sports betting tax from 12% to 18% after a June meeting with the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate.

While the Brazilian gambling market generated healthy tax numbers in H1 2025, experts say more work must be done to clamp down on illegal operators.
