India BCCI opens new title sponsorship bids after Dream11 exit

The Board of Control for Cricket in India has invited bids for the national team’s title sponsorship after fantasy sports operator Dream11 ended its deal due to the government’s new online gaming law.
The move followed the government’s Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act 2025, which banned real-money gaming operators.
Dream11 and My11Circle contributed about INR10 billion together through sponsorships of the national team and the Indian Premier League.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India said bidders and their group companies cannot operate or invest in money gaming, betting, or gambling, and must avoid substitute branding through alternate names or logos.
Other restrictions prevent cryptocurrency firms, tobacco and alcohol companies, and entities considered offensive to public morals from bidding. Some existing sponsor categories such as sportswear, banking, beverages, and insurance are also excluded.
Eligible bidders need an average turnover or net worth of at least INR3 billion over the last three years.
The last date to express an interest is 12 September, with final submissions due on 16 September.
Dream11 had secured rights for US$44 million for the 2023 to 2026 cycle but will exit early. A senior Board of Control for Cricket India official said the company would not face penalties, citing compliance with government rules.
