Two Fresno State men’s basketball players are alleged to have placed bets on games they participated in, according to ESPN.

Mykell Robinson and Jalen Weaver are accused of placing bets on Fresno State underperforming on points and rebounds. If proven to be true, it would be a significant breach of the NCAA rules.

The NCAA prohibits student-athletes, coaches, and staff members from betting on any games, regardless of their sport or division. This includes any bet, including pools, parlays, prop betting, and single-game or in-game wagers.

ESPN first reported on 22 February that Fresno State had removed junior forward Robinson from the team, while Weaver and another player, Zaon Collins, had been suspended in connection with potential gambling.

According to Action News, Head Coach Vance Walberg discovered gambling had been taking place and notified the Fresno State administration. This quickly led to an internal investigation, and the NCAA became involved.

Fresno State has not commented on the investigation other than reporting that Weaver and Collins are being withheld due to an eligibility matter.
