Four Korean nationals arrested for illegal online gambling operations

A coordinated operation between Philippine and Korean authorities has led to the arrest of four Korean nationals who are suspected of running an illegal online gambling operation in Cebu, Philippines.
Oh Kyoungchul, believed to be the leader of one of the operations, was arrested on 25 June in Clark Freeport. Three other Korean nationals, Yang Koo Youn, Jung Hoesung, and Han Jonghoon, were also arrested in separate operations.
According to a report from the Sun Star, Korean authorities have said Oh’s group, which included Yang, earned over KRW3.5 billion in profits from its illegal gambling operation, which ran from a rented house where they installed computer and video equipment and distributed content to unlawful gambling websites.
Jung, who was arrested at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, has also been wanted in Korea for operating 23 illegal online gambling platforms. His group is believed to have made over KRW4 trillion in profits.
In the final operation conducted on 4 July, Han was arrested. He is alleged to have served as the finance team leader of a criminal organization that also operated 23 gambling websites that offered sports betting and casino games to its clientele.
His group is reported to have made KRW2 trillion in revenue.
