Vermont sports betting generates revenue of US$1.6 million in December

Vermont’s Department of Liquor and Lottery has reported US$1.6 million in assorted gross online sports betting revenue and a total handle of US$24.4 million for December.

The results represent a trend of continuous growth in online sports betting in the Green Mountain state since its legalization last year, with a month-on-month increase of 37% compared to November which reported a handle of US$17.8 million.

Despite this, assorted gross revenue did decrease month-on-month, declining by US$443,827.

American football came out on top with US$9.7 million in handle, and basketball added more than US$5.7 million to the total.

Those figures are consistent with national trends in which the NFL and college football seasons drove up the numbers for online sports betting.

In addition, soccer generated US$1.3 million, and table tennis generated a further US$633,653 towards the total handle for December.
