Online lottery ticket service, TheLotter US, has sent out a reminder to its customers to be wary of possible scams and fraudulent websites.

In recent years, the popularity of online lottery services has grown, and cybercriminals have marked it as a target for phishing emails and scam messages that claim recipients have won a prize.

Customers of TheLotter US were reminded that they cannot win a prize for a contest that they have not entered, with TheLotter Group identifying several fraudulent websites that impersonate its services.

While many of these sites have been taken down, TheLotter US warns more will most likely emerge.

Yael Hertz, Chief Executive Officer of TheLotter Group, said, “We’re concerned about the harm phishing scams can cause and the negative impact on companies like ours, committed to keeping customers safe and informed. That’s why we actively educate and warn our customers, raising awareness to help protect them.”

TheLotter advised its customers to always check for common scam red flags such as incorrect email addresses and URLs, suspicious links, poor spelling, unsecured internet connections, and requests for personal information.

“We encourage customers to log into their accounts directly if they ever receive a winning notification and to never respond to unsolicited requests for personal information. Staying informed about scams is key to protecting yourself online,” added Hertz.
