Tennessee sports betting regulator issues US$250,000 in fines to offshore operators

Tennessee sports betting regulator, the Sports Wagering Council, has issued fines totaling US$250,000 to five illegal offshore gambling operators.
The sportsbooks violated the Tennessee Sports Gaming Act by accepting bets without a license. Costa Rica-based BetAnySports, Bookmaker, and JazzSports; Panama-based BetOnline and Curacao-based Everygame each received a US$50,000 fine.
This brings the fines against illegal operators to US$600,000. Curacao-based sportsbook operator Bovada withdrew its operations in Tennessee after receiving a US$50,000 fine in October 2024.
Meanwhile, social sportsbook platform Legendz also stopped operations in April after receiving a cease-and-desist order from the Sports Wagering Council. Sportsbook BUSR received a US$50,000 fine in May.
Executive Director of the Sports Wagering Council, Mary Beth Thomas, said, “The SWC is exploring all avenues with its network of law enforcement to eliminate these bad actors from Tennessee.
“Consumers in Tennessee need to be aware that illegal operators will gladly take their money and personal information, and if a consumer does business with an illegal book, they give away their information to criminals.”
