SBC Summit 2025 increases regional focus and zeros in on tech

SBC Summit 2025 is set to refine the conference experience this year, with a greater emphasis on emerging and global markets and the introduction of a new technology stage.
The latest edition also will feature the introduction of emerging and global markets stages, which will see whole days dedicated to one region enabling delegates to immerse themselves in the regions in which they’re most interested.
SBC Senior Marketing Director Dennis Algreen said the idea was not only to offer insightful conference sessions through the day but to enhance the networking opportunities.
“We have always had a lot of networking as well as conference content, but they have been relatively unconnected previously,” Algreen explained.
“Our thinking here was that if we have a theme on a single stage throughout a single day around a region, then in between the conference sessions we can do these little networking sessions. People can now have conversations and interact with the people that were just in the room because they share their current interest in that bigger market or region.”
Starting on Tuesday, September 16, the emerging markets stage will open with a day dedicated to Africa, moving onto Eurasia and the Middle East on day two and Asia on day three.
Highlights from the stage will include a leaders panel, tailored to operators, affiliates and suppliers looking to expand their Asian presence. Speakers will be Lau Kok Keng, Head of Intellectual Property and Sports and Gaming at Rajah & Tan Singapore, Yuta Romanchenko, Chief Business Development Officer at Big Idea and Rory Anderson, Consultant at 12BET.
In the afternoon, a panel on the future of Philippine gaming after the abolition of the POGOs will hear from Jade Gaming Chief Executive Joe Pisano, MegaBet+ and Scorebet President and Chief Executive Dominique Laconico, Arden Consult Principal Marie Antonette Quiogue, and KMI Group Director Keith McDonnell.
On the global markets stage, a LatAm leaders panel consisting of EstelarBet Founder Sebastian Salazar, Betwarrior Chief Executive Zeno Ossko, and Estrelabet Chief Business Officer Fellipe Fraga, will look at how the region’s home-grown operators can influence the industry’s future in the region.
Other panels will focus on specific countries, including Brazil, Peru and Mexico, with several networking opportunities throughout the day.
Algreen says the show is on track to attract 30,000 delegates this year and he expects, as was the case last year, that the numbers of attendees from emerging markets will grow.
“I am expecting to end up with a significant increase in both attendees from Asia and from LatAm,” he said. At the moment, there’s a concentration around the Brazilian market, but there are other markets that are booming there, too, and we are seeing that reflected in attendance.”
Algreen also highlighted SBC’s focus on bringing speakers in from outside of the industry this year, Randi Zuckerberg being a headline speaker on Tuesday, doing a keynote and a more in-depth session on the role and potential applications of AI.
“We try to make sure that we’re adding a lot of inbound knowledge from outside of the industry, because with a condensed event calendar throughout the year, there is repetition. So, if you want to just really learn something new, we have to bring in that knowledge from elsewhere,” Algreen said.
The tech stage will focus on payments on Day One, which will include a close look at developments in AI and blockchain.
On Day Two, under the theme of technology, panels will explore whether subscription models could take hold in gaming, analyze how AI is powering personalized betting tools, and ask how improved UX and UI design can drive retention without alienating traditional players.
On Day Three, compliance takes center stage, looking at the subject from a digital perspective to explore AI-powered fraud detection, advanced KYC processes, and tools for real-time monitoring of player behavior.
For those looking to get the networking started early, on Monday, September 15, SBC Summit will host a Legends Charity Game pitting a squad of Portuguese footballing legends against a team of international icons. The game aims to raise €1,000,000 (US$1.18 million)1 EUR = 1.1769 USD
