SailGP announces sports betting partnership with DraftKings and Bet365

Sportsbook operators DraftKings and Bet365 have entered a partnership with the international sailing league, SailGP.
The partnership will enable fans to bet on races as early as the Mubadala New York GP on the 7 and 8 June.
The DraftKings and Bet365 deal is part of a larger strategy to increase viewer engagement and attract new fans to the sport.
SailGP Chief Revenue Officer Ben Johnson said, “It’s a sport that’s naturally built for sports betting and gaming onsite in person at the events. It’s communal; it’s high speed; there are lots of different winners, event-to-event.”
Those interested in placing bets on the events will be able to wager on various outcomes, including race winners and team matchups. The league also collects 270,000 data points every second, allowing operators to supply real-time odds for fans so they never miss out on a potential wager.
The New York GP is the sixth race of the 2025 season which pits 12 co-ed teams racing on 50ft Catamarans against each other.
Johnson added, “It is really reflective of how good the teams are currently and how much competition there is on a race-to-race basis, which makes it really fun for fans from a betting and gaming perspective. You can have an odds favorite, but at the end of the day, it really depends which team is sailing most competitively that weekend in that venue.”
Bet365 has recently been reported to be considering a sale that could see the global sportsbook operator valued at £9 billion (US$12.2 billion)1 GBP = 1.3552 USD
