The Responsible Online Gaming Association and BetBlocker on Tuesday announced a partnership to promote the adoption of BetBlocker’s free blocking software across the US.

BetBlocker software allows players to voluntarily restrict themselves from more than 118,400 gambling operator websites and 1,500 gambling apps, including  regulated and unregulated sites. The collaboration marks a step forward in providing the necessary support to players who have decided to restrict their play.

“ROGA (the independent association representing 90% of the legal U.S. sports betting industry by handle) was established to raise the standard for responsible online gaming through collaboration, innovation, and a commitment to evidence-based practices,” ROGA Executive Director Dr. Jennifer Shatley said in a statement. “Making resources like BetBlocker more visible and accessible is one way we put that mission into action. We’re equipping individuals with practical tools that support their decisions and well-being.”

Through the collaboration, ROGA will prominently feature BetBlocker’s free blocking software on its website and promote the platform across ROGA channels. ROGA also will work directly with its eight member operators to explore ways they can make BetBlocker available to their customers.

“We’re delighted to partner with the Responsible Online Gaming Association to expand access to BetBlocker across the United States,” said BetBlocker Founder Duncan Garvie.  “This collaboration will help tens of thousands of people take meaningful steps to manage their relationship with gambling, regardless of where or how they play. By working with ROGA and its member operators, we’re removing barriers to support and making it easier for people to access the tools they need—freely, anonymously, and on their own terms.”

The BetBlocker app enables players to block access for a specified length of time across thousands of sites and apps, and across all their devices, in under two minutes. A release stated that it offers support in more languages than any other tool of its kind.

As a free and anonymous program, BetBlocker removes financial and social barriers. Aligned with ROGA’s commitment to support personalized solutions for players, BetBlocker will soon release a scheduling tool allowing players to plan ahead and schedule restrictions for the times that they anticipate needing them.

The collaboration builds on ROGA’s existing commitment to ensure that players expressing the need to take a break from gaming are supported across the igaming industry.

Along with the BetBlocker partnership, ROGA is developing a data clearinghouse program to enable self-exclusion across all its member operators. Once the data clearinghouse is live, BetBlocker will serve as an essential complementary resource to ensure that players are protected across regulated and unregulated sites.
