PAGCOR’s corporate social responsibility programs also have received funding to build schools, e-learning hubs, and wellness centers.

“Every peso we collect from the gaming sector translates to meaningful projects such as classrooms for our children, health programs for our people, and safe spaces for communities in times of calamity. This is how we ensure that gaming directly benefits Filipinos,” Tengco said.

However, Tengco warned that illegal operators directly affect the government by taking away revenue. He stressed that these operators entice Filipinos of all ages and lack proper safeguards.

Tengco reiterated that PAGCOR was committed to strengthening enforcement against illegal platforms.

At the same time, other institutions like the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas have ordered the delinking of gambling platforms from e-wallets to protect Filipinos from unregulated gambling.
