Pakistan names list of illegal apps in online betting and trading crackdown
Pakistan’s National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency has declared 46 mobile applications illegal in a nationwide campaign against gambling and unregulated trading.
The agency said the apps allowed casino-style games, sports betting, and unlicensed forex and binary trading, all of which violate national laws. Officials warned that the platforms posed risks to financial security and personal data.
Some of the banned casino and betting apps included 1xBet, Chicken Road, Aviator Games, Dafabet, 22Bet, Casumo, Rabona, 10Cric, Plinko, Bet365, and Thunderpick.
The agency’s investigators also warned that unregulated forex and binary trading platforms could enable scams and illegal money transfers.
In addition, some apps that provided access to SIM card and mobile number information were on the list, raising concerns about privacy breaches and identity theft. Some of these named apps included Pak Sim Data, Sky Sim, Sim Tracker, and Sim Owner Details.
The agency has asked the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority to block access to the applications, effective immediately. It also urged citizens to avoid unverified platforms that could compromise their personal or financial data.
