Pacific Online Systems Corporation reconsiders igaming plans

Lottery technology company Pacific Online Systems Corporation will reconsider its investment in igaming in the Philippines.
The company recently acquired a 37.5% stake in local gaming company HHR Philippines Inc., which runs an icasino platform in the country and holds an igaming license issued by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR).

The Filipino government has banned Philippine offshore gaming operators (POGOs) because of their alleged links with criminal activities. However, it recently said that it is considering a ban on Philippine inland gaming operators (PIGOs) and is considering the potential effect.
Willy Ocier, Chairman of Pacific Online Systems Corporation, told Manila Standard that a potential change of the company’s plans is because of the proposed PIGO ban, saying, “we’re rethinking because there’s that uncertainty.”
Pacific Online Systems Corporation, which is 50.1% owned by the Philippines’ casino and resort company Belle Corporation, works in developing and managing the software and hardware associated with the lottery industry in the Philippines. It also works with the national lottery organization, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, to provide lottery products nationwide.
