Players in Ontario spent CA$22.7 billion on igaming in the third quarter of 2024, eclipsing the previous year by 32 percent and 22 percent more than second quarter of this financial year.

Online casino gaming attracted the most significant spending from Ontario players. In the third quarter, CA$18.9 billion was spent at online casino sites, an increase of 38 percent from the previous year. Sports betting spending also increased by 10 percent, as Ontario residents bet CA$3.4 billion on sports matches, including esports.

The remaining igaming spending was on peer-to-peer poker, which saw a 3 percent fall compared to the previous year. Online casinos recorded CA$644 million in revenue, a 37 percent increase, although sports betting revenue fell by 3 percent and poker revenue decreased by 6 percent.

iGaming Ontario regulates online gambling in the province and recently published third quarter spending data, which set a new record. During the third quarter, 83 gaming websites were active within Ontario.

Previously, igaming was regulated through a partnership between iGaming Ontario and the Alcohol and Gaming Commission Ontario. However, this agreement was terminated by Bill 216 in October.
