Newport World Resorts to upgrade online platform amid increasing competition

Philippines integrated resort operator Newport World Resort is improving its online gambling platform, as competiton intensifies in the region.

On Wednesday, the company clarified its e-gaming expansion plans in a note filed with the Philippines Stock Exchange by its parent company, Alliance Global Group.

Alliance Global Group said that no new gaming application would be released and that its “new version” was intended to improve its already existing platform. The response came after a news article from Bilyonaryo.com on 18 May broke the news about the planned improvements.

The company filing said, “Newport World Resorts’ improved gaming revenue from online gaming will positively impact overall revenue of [operator] Travellers International Hotel Group, Inc and [parent] Alliance Global Group.”

The move comes amid an anticipated increase in competition in the online sector. The Chief Executive and Chairman of Bloomberry Resorts Corp, operator of Solaire Resort & Casino, Enrique Klar Razon said in a stockholders meeting in April that the company intends to launch an online platform by the end of May or early June.

Meanwhile, Universal Entertainment Corp, operator of integrated resort Okada Manila, announced its intention to “penetrate our new online gaming platform” while announcing its Q1 2025 results.
