New York sportsbooks record online handle of US$2.4 billion in March

Online sports wagering handle reached US$2.4 billion in New York in March, up from US$1.9 billion in February.

Despite the increased handle, gross gaming revenue was down in March, declining from US$184.8 million to US$161.8 million month-on-month.

The New York State Gaming Commission licenses nine online sportsbooks in the state, including Bally Bet, BetMGM, Caesars Sportsbook, DraftKings, ESPN Bet, Fanatics Sportsbook, FanDuel, Resorts World Bet, and Rush Street Interactive.

DraftKings recorded the highest handle for March, reporting an online sports wagering handle of US$912.1 million, up from February 2025, when handle was US$717.4 million. The operator’s gross gaming revenue was US$62.5 million, up again from February, when it was just over $51.6 million.

In addition, DraftKings contributed US$31.9 million in net revenue to the New York education fund. In total, all nine sportsbooks produced US$82.5 million for education.

Net revenue generated from online sportsbooks is distributed among the state’s public schools, local governments, charitable organizations, small businesses, and agriculture and economic development.

From this month’s sports wagering revenue, US$6 million will be given to the education fund to be distributed among problem gambling education and treatment purposes, and a further US$5 million will be donated to youth sports activities and the New York education grant program.
