New Hampshire’s online sports betting handle reached US$71 million in December, a slight decrease from the previous month when online sportsbooks generated US$75 million.

The lower handle also led to significantly lower gross gaming revenue and state revenue share. In December, gross gaming revenue dropped to US$5.8 million from US$10.2 million the month before, leading to a 44 percent decrease in state revenue share.

That US$5.8 million gross gaming revenue in December is lower than the US$9.1 million generated in September from a far lower handle of more than US$64 million.

FY 2025 has seen the online betting handle increase monthly, rising from US$45 million in July to US$75 million in November. However, the handle decreased for the first time in December, with a slight drop in the value of wagers placed.

New Hampshire legalized sports betting in 2019, with Gov. Chris Sununu making it official by placing the first bet. The New Hampshire Lottery collects and publishes data on sportsbook revenue and is also responsible for licensing and regulating sports betting within the state. Sports betting revenue is taxed at 51 percent, one of the highest rates in the United States.
