Sparket teams up with Major League Rugby

North America’s main rugby union competition, Major League Rugby, has announced a partnership with online gambling company Sparket.
The partnership will give Major League Rugby fans access to the Sparket platform, allowing them to take part in free-to-play and real money competitions. The first primary contest will be on 27 May, with further competitions posted throughout the season.
Speaking about the partnership, Lucas Reid, the Chief Revenue Officer at Major League Rugby, said that the league wanted to align itself with the new opportunities presented by the growing gaming sector, allowing fans to engage with the sport in new ways.
Sparket Chief Operating Officer Evan Fisher added, “Sparket’s skill-based contests are a fan engagement and growth tool for sports leagues and teams, and we are excited to bring North America’s top rugby league into our collection of partners. We are reimagining the future of gaming with a platform that lets fans engage with their favorite topics: sports, entertainment, or real-world outcomes in a fun, social, and dynamic environment, and MLR’s strategies perfectly align with our goals.”
Sparket, headquartered in Los Angeles, earned the Startup of the Year title at this year’s Starties Awards. It is currently available in 42 states across the US.
It operates a peer-to-peer skill contest model that runs on a parimutuel basis, allowing players to compete against one another, rather than a centralized bookmaking platform, with odds moving based on the pool size.
