The Michigan Gaming Control Board has acted against 11 illegal overseas gambling sites that are targeting state residents.

The regulator has issued cease-and-desist letters to the operators of Shazam Casino, Highway Casino, SlotsRoom, Ruby Slots Casino, Las Atlantis Casino, Bet Big Dollar Casino, Blood Moon Casino, Spinfinity, Jumba Bet Casino, Grand Eagle Online Casino and Dogsfortune, all of which have been operating without a state-issued license.

The Michigan Gaming Control Board found that they violated multiple regulations, including the Michigan Gaming Control and Revenue Act, the Michigan Penal Code and the Lawful Internet Gaming Act.

The sites failed to meet the state standards for customer protection, safe gambling and information security, putting users at risk of identity theft and fraud. They were also found to have withheld winnings and applied unfair wagering requirements.

The letters state that operators of the sites will have 14 days to cease their illegal activities. If they don’t comply, the Michigan Gaming Control Board will begin formal legal action, working with the Michigan Attorney General’s Office.

Henry Williams, Executive Director of the Michigan Gaming Control Board, said the action showed that the regulator was dedicated to tackling illegal operators.

“The Michigan Gaming Control Board remains fully committed to ensuring a fair, safe and lawful gaming environment for all Michigan residents,” Williams said. “Our actions today underscore our unwavering dedication to holding illegal operators accountable. Shutting down these unlicensed platforms is critical not only to maintaining the integrity of Michigan’s regulated gaming industry but also to protecting residents from predatory practices and unreliable gambling experiences.”
