According to the Michigan Gaming Control Board, these online gambling platforms, which operate offshore and are not licensed by the regulator, are breaking multiple state laws. These include the Lawful Internet Gaming Act, the Michigan Gaming Control and Revenue Act, and the Michigan Penal Code.

Breaking these laws can result in operators facing a fine of up to US$100,000, up to ten years in prison, or both.

Each operator will have 14 days from receiving the cease-and-desist letter to halt operations in Michigan.

If operators do not withdraw services from Michigan, the regulator will pursue legal action with the Michigan Attorney General’s Office.

Michigan Gaming Control Board Executive Director Henry Williams commented, “These illegal platforms not only violate Michigan’s gaming regulations but also put consumers at risk by offering unreliable withdrawal options and lacking essential consumer protections. Our top priority is safeguarding Michigan residents by ensuring that all online gaming activities are conducted legally and safely. These operators must stop their activities or face additional legal consequences.”

Several other offshore operators have received similar warnings from the Michigan Gaming Control Board to start 2025.

The regulator sent MyBookie.ag a cease-and-desist letter in January before warning a further ten operators across February.
