Kansas online sportsbooks increase revenues by 84%

Kansas online sportsbooks generated US$16 million last month, an increase of 84% compared to December figures.

The Kansas Lottery reports the revenue of six online operators in the Sunflower State: DraftKings, FanDuel, ESPNBet, BetMGM, Caesars, and Fanatics.

In January, online sports betting handle was US$293.2 million, up 16% compared to the previous month, which saw US$252.8 million.

Including retail sportsbooks, Kansas operators handled US$301 million, a new state record surpassing the total in November 2024.

DraftKings generated the highest revenue for the month, recording revenues of US$7.9 million in January from US$4.1 million reported in December 2024.

FanDuel reported the second-highest amount in January, with US$5.7 million in revenue, an increase of US$1.6 million compared to the previous month.

BetMGM and Caesars generated more than US$1 million in revenue in January, an increase compared to December. Fanatics didn’t report any monthly revenue but revealed betting handle of US$20.6 million, up US$6 million from December.

Kansas legalized online sports betting in 2022. Since then, Kansas regulation requires sportsbook operators to pay 10% in tax. Last month, the Kansas Lottery reported that the state share reached US$1.6 million.

The money is placed in the State Gaming Revenues Fund. It is distributed between Kansas economic development initiatives, prison construction and maintenance projects, local juvenile detention facilities, problem gambling assistance, and the State General Fund.
