Prediction market Kalshi has appointed estwhile American Gaming Association Senior Vice President of Public Affairs Sara Slane as Head of Corporate Development.

Slane worked at the American Gaming Association for five years, having previously spent seven years at MGM Resorts International where she became Vice President of Regional Government Affairs. She went on to set up her own sports betting consultancy, Slane Advisory, in 2019.

During her time at the American Gaming Association, the organization successfully lobbied the US Supreme Court to overturn the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act of 1992.

Slane said in a LinkedIn post, “There’s palpable industry excitement about the benefits prediction markets can provide, and I’m thrilled to be working towards a future where all of the operators have prediction markets as part of their product.”

Kalshi started offering event contracts for sports events earlier in 2025, starting with the Super Bowl and March Madness.

The platform has faced legal action for introducing these options which allow customers to make money from correct sports predictions, with states like Illinois, Ohio, Maryland, and Nevada issuing the company with cease-and-desist letters.

Kalshi Chief Executive Tarek Mansour recently responded to these cease-and-desist letters in an interview with TechCrunch, commenting, “We are literally like a financial exchange, but the underlying trading is events.”

He added, “The CFTC is our regulator. If the CFTC tells us to stop, we will absolutely stop. If they don’t, then we won’t.”
