However, the business was found to be illegally operating an unlicensed online casino, High5Casino.

According to the Department of Consumer Protection, High5Casino was marketed as licensed and accepted wagers from Connecticut players, including bettors on Connecticut’s voluntary self-exclusion list.

The department’s investigation revealed that 1,100 Connecticut users had gambled on High5Casino, with 911 users losing US$937,938 in wagers while 108 who were on the self-exclusion lost up to US$300,000.

In a statement regarding the decision to revoke High5Games’ license, Department of Consumer Protection Commissioner, Bryan T. Cafferelli, said, “It is a privilege to hold this license, and we expect our credential holders to take that responsibility seriously. High5Games took advantage of their credential to mislead consumers into believing they were participating in gaming on a legal platform when, in fact, they were breaking the law.

“We remind consumers that there are only two licensed online casinos in Connecticut – DraftKings/Foxwoods and FanDuel/Mohegan Sun – and if you choose to participate in online gaming, you should only utilize one of the legal platforms licensed to operate in our state.”

High5Games has been charged with 1,065 criminal counts of conducting illegal gaming activity and can be fined up to US$2,000 or face jail time for violating Connecticut’s gaming laws.
