Claire Williams OBE, one of only two women to lead a Formula One team, has been announced as the keynote speaker at next month’s iGB Live at ExCeL, London.

The headline event at the first-ever London edition of iGB Live will be a conversation between Williams and broadcaster and journalist Nadine Dereza, focusing on the parallels between the data-intensive environments of F1 racing and igaming.

Williams took over as effective Team Principal at Williams in 2013 and introduced multiple changes, including an overhaul of the team’s engineering department, an increase in its racing budget through new sponsorship deals, and a host of diversity and inclusion initiatives.

Her time as Team Principal saw a significant improvement in Williams’ performance, leading to consecutive top-three finishes in the Constructors’ Championship in 2014 and 2015.

iGB Global Portfolio Director Naomi Barton said Williams’ keynote would underline iGB’s commitment to diversity and to driving improved business performance.

Barton said, “An inspirational leader – she was responsible for transforming Williams F1 from an outdated, male-dominated culture into one renowned for being a pioneer of innovative technology, sustainability, diversity and inclusion. Her development of a high-performance team culture galvanized an underperforming race team that had been struggling on and off the grid to its best finishing positions in years.”

Looking ahead to her appearance at iGB Live, Williams noted: “There are a number of ways that Formula 1 can inspire businesses and provide tangible takeaways for igaming operators of all sizes, from product innovation to navigating entry into new markets.

“As well as key requirements such as having a dynamic leadership, a culture of continuous improvement, hiring the very best problem solvers and being the first to embrace technology advances, F1 also demands the organisational agility that’s necessary to nuance strategy in what is an ultra-competitive space. I look forward to exploring the lessons provided by F1 that will inspire igaming leaders attending iGB Live.”

The keynote conversation will take place on the Pulse Stage on 2 July and is one of 30 sessions scheduled for the two-day event  (2-3 July) at ExCel London.
