Global gambling operator Flutter has taken full control of US sportsbook FanDuel, with a US$1.76 billion deal to acquire Boyd Gaming’s 5% stake.

The transaction gives Flutter Entertainment a 100% holding in FanDuel, which is valued at approximately US$31 billion. According to the announcement, FanDuel currently leads the online sports betting market in the US with a 43% share and has 27% of the igaming sector.

The deal will also feature a long-term extension of Flutter’s partnership with Boyd Gaming to the end of 2038.

As part of the agreement, Flutter will adjust some of its charges, lowering market access fees in five states where Boyd Gaming provides FanDuel entry; a change expected to generate annual savings of around US$65 million from the start of this month.

The buyout is to be funded by a US$1.75 billion bridge credit facility, and the transaction is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2025, pending regulatory approval.

Flutter has also confirmed that it will cease FanDuel’s retail sportsbook operations in Boyd Gaming-affiliated locations by mid-2026.

FanDuel was declared worth US$31 billion by Jefferies Equity Research analyst James Wheatcroft following confirmation of the deal.
