Fantasy Life collects US$7 million from LeBron James and NFL stars

Former ESPN fantasy football analyst Matthew Berry has secured US$7 million in funding for his startup, Fantasy Life, a fantasy sports advice platform.
NBA star LeBron James and his business partner Maverick Carter were among the well-known backers.
Fantasy Life is a platform that offers fantasy football tools, player alerts, betting insights, and community-driven advice.
The investor list also features Marlins co-owner Roger Ehrenberg, Devils co-owner David Blitzer, YouTube co-founder Chad Hurley, Jaguars owner Tony Khan, and NFL stars such as Joe Burrow, Josh Allen, Ja’Marr Chase, George Kittle, Austin Ekeler, Brent Celek, and Larry Fitzgerald Jr.
Berry told the NY Post, “It’s a little bit similar to if you ever watched ‘Shark Tank,” but added “in some of the cases, I already had a relationship with these guys.”
While announcing the latest round of funding, Berry noted many of these celebrities are reinvesting for larger stakes after backing Fantasy Life early.
Berry has worked for NBC Sports after leaving ESPN in 2022. He writes the Love Hate column, hosts daily shows, and contributes to NFL coverage on Football Night in America.
Fantasy sports are the topic of increased scrutiny across the US after Attorney General Rob Bonta declared fantasy sports illegal in California earlier in July.
