Fanatics becomes latest to apply for Missouri sports betting license

Fanatics Sportsbook has applied for an online and retail sports betting license in Missouri, as confirmed by the state’s gambling regulator, the Missouri Gaming Commission.
It is now the fifth operator to apply for a Missouri sports betting license since applications went live in May after the Gaming Commission announced its sports betting market would go live on 1 December.
The state regulator can issue up to 19 retail and 14 online licenses for its upcoming market. Fanatics has not yet named a market access partner for either license type. The company currently operates in 22 states and Washington, DC.
The other operators that have applied for a license include Circa Sports, DraftKings, Underdog, and FanDuel.
DraftKings, FanDuel, and Circa Sports have applied for Missouri’s two untethered online sports betting licenses, which allow operators to launch without partnering with casinos or sports teams, whereas Underdog has applied for a mobile license.
The Gaming Commission will hear presentations from applicants for the untethered sports betting licenses on 13 August and announce the successful operators on 15 August.
In addition to operators, five suppliers; Catalist, Gaming Labs International, GeoComply, OpticOdds, and Sportradar, have applied for licenses. The Gaming Commission recently had a public hearing on its proposed sports betting rules. No one spoke during the hearing, but written comments were submitted online. These will be reviewed before final regulations are issued.
