ESPN Bet goes live in Washington D.C.

ESPN Bet, the online sportsbook operated by ESPN and Penn Entertainment, has launched in Washington D.C.
The online sportsbook went live thanks to an agreement with Monumental Sports & Entertainment, which owns several teams, including the NBA’s Washington Wizards, NHL’s Washington Capitals, and WNBA’s Washington Mystics.
Aaron LaBerge, Chief Technology Officer at Penn Entertainment, said, “We’re thrilled to launch ESPN Bet in our nation’s capital and expand our presence across the Washington metropolitan area. Along with our partner ESPN, we’re excited to introduce our deeply integrated media and betting experience and further engage with the D.C. area’s passionate sports community.”
Washington D.C. is the 20th U.S. jurisdiction where ESPN Bet has gone live since launching in November 2023. Players who use the ESPN Bet app can link their accounts with their ESPN accounts, letting them track their bets across multiple ESPN-owned platforms.
The launch comes shortly after ESPN revealed a new responsible gambling education campaign, ‘The Talk.’ The latest campaign sees two spots featured on ESPN media, one starring ‘SportsCenter’ anchor Elle Duncan and another with ‘SportsCenter’ anchor Gary Striewski.
Any ‘The Talk’ spots will direct viewers to the ESPN Smart Play resource and the 1-800-Gambler helpline.
