Philippines online gaming operator Digiplus Interactive Corp has backed increased regulation of the online gaming sector.

However, DigiPlus warned of the consequences of a total igaming ban in the Philippines, which President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is considering.

The company believes this will shift gamblers onto unregulated platforms and put 40,000 jobs from the regulated gambling sector at risk.

Instead, DigiPlus welcomes further regulation of the legal gambling market and is adjusting its policies to recent changes. The company has confirmed it is revising its advertising policies following changes in government guidance released earlier this week, including restrictions on billboard advertisements.

DigiPlus highlighted that most of the potential regulatory safeguards lawmakers are considering enforcing on regulated gambling platforms are those that the company already offers across its gambling platforms. These include Know Your Customer security checks, deposit limits, cooling-off periods, and self-exclusion options.

DigiPlus Chairman Eusebio Tanco said, “We believe regulation is the path to player protection. It’s the only way to safeguard players, preserve jobs, and close the door on illegal, underground platforms that operate without any oversight.”

DigiPlus operates online gaming platforms such as BingoPlus, ArenaPlus, and GameZone, which can legally operate in the Philippines with oversight from PAGCOR.
