Bloomberry Resorts Corporation expands online gaming offering in the Philippines

Land-based casino opertor Bloomberry Resorts Corporation is set to launch a new electronic gaming product in the next month in a bid to capture a slice of the fast-growing online gaming market in the Philippines.
The operator, led by Enrique K. Razon Jr., plans to launch a new digital platform alongside its existing Solaire Online platform, to target Filipino players nationwide.
Razon said it was part of a plan to offset revenue losses from Chinese players’ exit following the ban on offshore gaming operations in July 2024.
Bloomberry also plans to expand its land-based Solaire North property and Solaire Entertainment City to strengthen its market position.
Yet Bloomberry’s new online platform is set to face stiff competition from DigiPlus, an online gaming rival that reported 40 million users in 2024, up from 20 million in 2023.
Digiplus Chairman Eusebio Tanco has expressed confidence in the group’s continued growth.
In addition, speaking to the Manila Bulletin DigiPlus Director Willy N. Ocier highlighted the company’s three-year lead, noting that new entrants face significant challenges and require substantial investment to compete.
“Who can compete with Digiplus? They are three years ahead… It’s hard to compete. You have to throw a lot of money,” he said.
Ocier, also Chairman of Belle Corporation, indicated that any aggressive online gaming venture would likely involve City of Dreams Manila, operated by Melco Resorts Leisure Corporation.
He said Melco still wants a buyer for its stake in the integrated resort. With Bloomberry preparing for its online gaming debut, the competitive landscape in the Philippines gaming industry is evolving.
DigiPlus Interactive recently announced the launch of its new Singapore hub, DigiPlus Global, to support the group’s global expansion plans.
