The Australian Communications and Media Authority has asked Australian internet service providers to block a list of illegal gambling sites.

An investigation by the regulator determined that Megabet Prize, TF2Royal, Casino Intense, and Mega Medusa contravened Australia’s primary online gaming legislation, the Interactive Gambling Act 2001.

The blocking orders are the latest example of the Australian Communications and Media Authority’s enforcement campaign, which began in 2017. Over 1,200 illegal sites have been blocked since the end of 2019, and another 220 have left the Australian market.

In November 2024, the Australian Communications and Media Authority blocked seven online gambling platforms, including RollXO, Betsquare, and MyEmpire, in a similar crackdown to April 2025.

However, according to the Australia Offshore Wagering Market Analysis Report 2023, conducted by advocacy group Responsible Wagering Australia, the size of the illegal overseas market operating in Australia was estimated at around AU$1.1 billion (US$701 million)1 AUD = 0.6371 USD

Commenting on the April 2025 blocks, the Australian Communications and Media Authority said, “The ACMA is reminding consumers that even if a service looks legitimate, it’s unlikely to have important customer protections. This means Australians who use illegal gambling services risk losing their money. You can check if a wagering service is licensed to operate in Australia on our register.”
