Arizona Department of Gaming issues warning over online casinos

The Arizona Department of Gaming has released a Consumer Protection Alert asking residents to look out for fake online casinos.
The warning follows an increase in the number of scams claiming that legal online gaming sites have been launched in the Grand Canyon state.
According to the Arizona Department of Gaming, fraudulent operators are enticing people to visit illegitimate sites or download illegal casino apps through social media. Arizona residents who do so can be at risk of fraud and identity theft and have little chance of recovering any losses.
Arizona residents can bet on sports online, play fantasy sports, wager at the racetrack or gamble at any of the state’s 24 tribal casinos. However, online casino gaming is illegal in all but seven states, and unregulated operators may undermine the state’s legal casino gaming sector.
The Arizona Department of Gaming has urged residents and visitors to the state to use its official website to check the complete list of licensed operators and to double-check platforms’ legitimacy before interacting with them.
The regulator also reminded consumers of the risk of sharing their personal data with unverified operators. Anyone encountering suspicious activity is asked to report it to the Arizona Department of Gaming or the Arizona Attorney General’s Office.
